There are many ways in which SEO can help your business, whether big or small. There is no cut-off point at which you do not need SEO anymore. While you may think you have done everything you can to promote your website, you may be surprised after you read this article. There are many ways that SEO, if done correctly, can help your business.

In this article, we’re going to go through some of the most significant, and some less obvious, ways that SEO can help you with the growth of your business.

Let’s get started!

How SEO Helps Your Business

Unless you have a website with millions of visitors a month, there are many ways in which a good SEO agency can help you. The most prominent issue that we, as SEO specialists, have to deal with, is informing people how we can help them. Some business owners feel like they have everything under control. They have a Social Media Manager, and this gets traffic to their site.

One thing that many SEO agencies will tell you is that there is a specific order in which you need to tackle SEO. While that is true, it is not the same for every business. Any SEO company worth their salt will tell you that the order is unique to the business needs. Therefore, do not look at this list as a definitive way to approach SEO; you should always find the best strategy for your own business.

Constantly Changing Dynamics

We would like to point out that, no matter how much you think you are in touch with the requirements of the internet, unless it is your job to do so, you are probably behind on some things. SEO, or Search Engine Optimisation, focuses on getting your website to the top of search engine results.

The major contenders in search engines; Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc., do not tell everyone everything that you need to do to get to the top. Unfortunately, their “rules” are like ever-changing regulations that you have to keep up with. They do not have a manual.

The only way that you can understand how they work is to study how they change. For example, which sites drop, or increase at each algorithm update, and why. If you do not have a long time to spend researching this, you will miss the changes that they make.

What works this week may not do anything next week. Conversely, you may change your strategy at the point it was about to work. That can lead to the possibility that you do more harm than good trying to do it yourself.

Good agencies monitor all of the websites that they help. Spotting what is working, what is not, where changes occur, and how to rectify them. This is something that the average website or business owner cannot do long-term.

How Will SEO Help My Business? – Organic Traffic Increase

When the SEO agency starts to get results, you will see increases in your organic traffic. Organic traffic is the most sought after website visitor source. With 5.6 billion searches a day, Google alone handles 90% of all internet searches. At such a large number of searches, even 0.00001% more of them (560) would increase your traffic by a significant amount.

With such a large number of users, Google has got a huge lead in search engine trust, too. If you want to know something or want to buy something or want to find somewhere local to eat, Google is likely to be your first port of call.

When your business appears at the top of their list for any given search, you instantly take some of their trust onto your own site. “If Google thinks it’s good, then it probably is.”

Of course, the more visitors you get through that cascade of trust, the better.

Brand Trust

As you have just seen, Google has a lot of trust with the internet population. A smaller known fact is that Alphabet owns Google. Who, in turn, own 239 other large companies that you may have heard of. So, in the eyes of an internet searcher, if Google trust you, so should they.

Furthermore, SEO will help get your business in the limelight for more searches. The more people see your brand, the more trust you will gain.

Increased Attraction

Along with trust comes attraction. Whenever someone is building a website and want to show people where they found an item or certain information, if you are at the top of the search engines, you have more chance of that being you. Therefore, even traffic from other sites is directed to you.

The more people see you, the more trust they gain. The more trust they gain, the more people link to you.

SEO Helps Businesses Build Brand Awareness

When you consider that Google asserts a lot of trust to your business, and the fact that you appear at the top of searches more often, it is not surprising that your brands’ awareness will increase. When you add that into the increased attraction that your business gets, you could have huge boosts in awareness with minimal effort.

Increased User Experience

Unfortunately, no matter how many visitors you get, if they have a bad experience on your site, they are wasted. If you have a large volume of visitors on your website, but they don’t stay for long, or they only look at one page and leave, you are showing the search engines that your site is not as good as they thought.

Whether that is through poor readability, difficult navigation, or an ugly site, Google is not going to keep your site rankings high, as they want to keep the majority share in website searches. Furthermore, if your site loads slowly, you will have visitors leaving before they even see your page.

Page load times have a direct impact on the bounce rate. A one-second load time can lead to a 7% bounce rate, which is incredibly high for a second wait. However, as time increases, so does the bounce rate. Seven seconds provides you with a 53% bounce, and 16 seconds is a huge 73%!

Speed and interface of a website can dramatically change the visitor time. That makes the user experience very important.

SEO Helps Businesses With Traffic Targeted For Conversions

What use is traffic if they have no interest in your product or service? Getting to the top of the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) for buyer intent keywords will not only increase your traffic, but it will be targeted to your business requirements.

For example, if you have a store that sells physical books, traffic looking for downloads is no use. However, if you have traffic looking for physical books, you are more likely to get sales. The same works for every business. Whether that is physical or digital products, local services, or worldwide information, the traffic needs to be targeted to your business needs.

Local SEO

Targeted traffic is great for online sales. However, you need a different type of SEO for local results. If you have a physical, brick and mortar book shop, you want people to come through the doors, too.

how can seo help my business grow

The world has changed with the introduction of the internet. It is not often that we go somewhere to buy something without checking what is available in your vicinity. Local SEO will help businesses to get the attention of people in their local area looking for what they provide.

SEO Means Competition Reduction

Having a business that no one else is competing in is almost impossible. However, it is not uncommon for businesses to not use SEO companies to help them. So, if you have 2 websites selling similar items, and one has a highly optimised website, and the other doesn’t, Google will favour the optimised site.

The more that you appear at the top of the rankings, the more you push others to the second page. Only 25% of searchers will go to the second page, leaving you with the other 75%.

High ROI

When you consider the cost of your current marketing strategy, SEO is relatively cheap. Furthermore, it is not something that runs out like a billboard contract or postal marketing. It would be best if you considered SEO as a business investment, as the results last, and can grow exponentially.

Quantifiable Results

It can be difficult to track where the growth of a business comes from. However, with SEO, Google Analytics can show that the increased number of sales this month directly links with the increase in traffic.

No matter how much money you pay to an SEO company, you can see exactly where the returns are. It may not be as easy to calculate ROI from SEO as it is PPC ads, but it is a longer-term strategy that is relatively easy to measure.

Conclusion

While we started this article asking how will SEO help my business, it’s a better question to ask “How won’t SEO help my business?”

Gaining exposure to the vastness of the internet can seem like a daunting challenge. However, if you work with the right SEO company, you can achieve all of the above and more.

The 90%+ statistic only refers to the world without China doesn’t it? As far as I know, Baidu runs around 1.5bn searches/day so that wouldn’t add up if the Google 5.6bn are 90%.
